Vision

Founding Principles

In 1977, a conference of medical students and doctors at the 23rd National Conference of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) laid the foundation for NMO. The organization was created to mobilize medical professionals to serve the poor, especially in rural India. The conference resolved:

  • To develop national character and devotion to the nation and humanity.
  • To create a fraternity among medical students across different systems of medicine.
  • To collaborate with ABVP and other like-minded organizations in constructive social initiatives.
  • To focus on providing primary healthcare services in rural areas through initiatives like "One College, One Village," in alignment with ABVP's Gram Vikas Programme.
  • Strengthening e-learning And online education infrastructure.
  • Expanding vocational training Initiatives for greater employability.
  • Enhancing international collaborations For cultural and educational exchange.

Key Initiatives

“One Unit, One Village” Project

Each NMO unit adopts a village to provide continuous healthcare services. By addressing root-level health challenges, the initiative improves both Quality of Life and key health indicators in rural communities.

“Dhanavantri Sewa Yatra”

Launched in 2003, this annual initiative delivers essential healthcare services to the Northeast region of India, a region historically underserved due to its challenging terrain and lack of infrastructure. Until the government establishes adequate Primary Health Centres (PHCs), NMO remains committed to conducting yearly medical camps in these areas.

With over four decades of dedication to healthcare and national service, the National Medicos Organisation continues its mission to ensure that every citizen has access to quality medical care. Through selfless service, national character-building, and commitment to excellence, NMO remains a pillar of medical and social transformation in India.
