Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM)

Samdrushti Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM) is a national charitable organization established in 2008 in Nagpur, dedicated to the empowerment and inclusion of Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). With a strong belief that disability is an intrinsic part of societal diversity, SAKSHAM works across multiple domains, including healthcare, education, skill development, employment, social inclusion, and advocacy.

Mission and Vision

SAKSHAM envisions a society where Divyangjan can lead dignified lives, contribute meaningfully to the nation, and experience harmony in all spheres of life—social, economic, political, cultural, and spiritual. The organization believes that every human is endowed with unique abilities and that full participation and inclusion of Divyangjan benefit both individuals and society at large.

Focus Areas

Healthcare for Divyangjan

  • SAKSHAM has undertaken several initiatives to ensure accessible healthcare services for persons with disabilities. One of its most significant projects is the Madhav Eye Bank, which promotes eye donation, manages cornea donations, and facilitates grafting to restore vision. The organization aims to establish at least 100 eye banks under the Madhav Eye Bank initiative and has already set up 12 licensed eye banks across India.

Skill Development and Employment

  • SAKSHAM actively promotes economic independence for Divyangjan through skill training and employment facilitation. In alignment with the Rehabilitation Council of India Act, 1992, the organization supports professionals in rehabilitation fields, including audiologists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists, rehabilitation engineers, and special educators.

Education for Divyangjan

  • SAKSHAM ensures access to education for visually impaired individuals through its Rashtriya-Sevika-SamitiBraille Book Creation Centres in Nagpur, Kalyan, and Akola, and Audio Book Creation Centres in Nagpur, Kalyan, Kolhapur, Akola, and New Delhi. Additionally, it has established the Madhav Audio Books Library in Nagpur and developed ABRAR, a special device for visually challenged individuals.

Social Development and Advocacy

  • SAKSHAM regularly organizes conventions, seminars, and workshops at state and national levels to promote social inclusion and awareness about the challenges faced by Divyangjan. Programs such as Divyang Mitra Yojana and Nethra Rakshik focus on disability support and eye health.
